Have You Heard of the Miracle of Tend Skin Liquid?

Do you hate even the thought of razor burn, ingrown hairs, redness and irritation?  Then you need to try Tend Skin Liquid Solution.  This after shave product has been around for a while now, but we’ve only just discovered how truly amazing it is!

Tend Skin Liquid Solution was recently named by TotalBeauty.com as one of the top 13 hair removal aids, and currently no other product on the market can compete with its effective after shave results.   It can also be used to treat ingrown hairs and irritation associated with waxing, electrolysis, and even laser hair removal.

We spoke with users of the product who simply swear by it, calling it a, “super after shave,” and saying, “I will never use anything other than Tend Skin!”  We’re serious when we tell you that you need to test out this product to believe in its unique effects.

Like all skincare products, we recommend reading and following the instructions on the label.  Also, it is wise to test out a small area of skin before and after shaving to see how your skin reacts.  Tend Skin might smell a little strong initially, but that is normal and will go away quickly.  Also, some users experience a slight tingly or stinging (but not painful) feeling when first applied.  This is also normal and will subside.

Not Convinced?  See what users have said about Tend Skin Liquid:

Tend skin is currently available at Discount Beauty Center in 4oz (Currently $13.99…marked down from $20!) and 8oz (Currently $24.99…marked down from $35!) bottles.

Brush Up on Makeup Brushes

aaaaaopdxogaaaaaau5cdq

Finding and maintaining the right makeup brushes can seem a bit overwhelming.  We’ve compiled a list of everything you need to know about the little brushes that work makeup wonders.

Makeup Brush Tips and Techniques

Many people are concerned about getting the proper usage out of their brushes.   Paula Begoun, author of the the best selling book, Don’t Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me shares some insight about makeup brush techniques.

  • Always use a brush or sponge for face makeup (Your fingers could make your face look streaky)
  • Gently place brushes into makeup, try not to  move around the bristles too much.
  • Knock off any excess powder
  • Do not wipe or rub the brush against your face. (This could actually remove what you already put on!)
  • Use short, light, gliding strokes

Keep ‘em Clean!

Washing your makeup brushes is almost as important as washing your face!  Your brushes can be a haven for excess dirt and bacteria build up, so it’s very important to keep them clean and sanitary.  Because makeup brushes can be expensive and fragile, Real Simple put together this quick video tutorial with easy to follow directions for cleaning makeup brushes.

  • Once a week, spritz on a brush cleaner, which is sprayed onto the bristles and then laid flat to dry
  • Once every month, you should take the time to do a more deep cleaning using warm water and brush shampoo
  • Do not dip the base of the brush entirely into the water as this could loosen the glue and cause the bristles to fall out

How to Shop for Makeup Brushes

Now that you know how to use and take care of your brushes, you can decide which ones are right for you!

  1. Decide which types brushes you need.  If you are really into eye makeup blending, you’ll probably want a few different types of eye makeup brushes.  If you use liquid foundation and powder bronzer, you’ll need separate brushes for each of those!
  2. Synthetic vs. Natural – Synthetic brushes are better for certain types of makeup, and natural brushes are better for others.  An article by Make Me Brighter explains the difference between the two
  3. Brush Separates – You don’t necessarily have to spend a fortune, so long as you take care of them.  Try the Image Beauty brand brushes,  like their Blush Brush (Your Price, $3.99).  The price is cheap but the quality is not!
  4. Makeup Brush Sets – For an all inclusive brush set, try I Beauty’s Italian Badger Brush set, which includes ten different makeup brushes!  These brushes made from badger hair are some of the firmest brushes out there.  (Keep in mind, they are also cruelty free!)  Badger hair brushes typically have  thin tips, but are still very soft and flexible.  This set typically retails for $300.  Your Price $49.99.

Paraben Free Products

Cosmetics Without the Controversy

paraben-free-products-controversy

A ton of new products are introduced every year claiming to be “paraben free.”  Are these products better?  Are they safer?  We’ve tried to answer the most frequently asked questions about the chemicals so that you can make an educated decision about your beauty products.

Why the Hype?

A 2004 study from Journal of Applied Toxicology found that parabens were present within breast tumors. This created a widespread panic amongst consumers that the parabens in their cosmetic and beauty products could be linked to certain forms of cancer.  However, nowhere in the study actually showed that parabens were a direct cause of the cancer.  Even the American Cancer Society has stated there is no firm evidence to support the link between the two.

What are Parabens?

Parabens are synthetically produced preservative chemicals that are used in many beauty products. Their main purpose is to prevent the growth of bacteria and to maintain freshness.  They come in many different forms and are found in most makeup, moisturizers, and hair products.

What are the Dangers of Parabens?

According to the FDA, the amount of parabens found in cosmetics and other beauty products is an extremely tiny percentage and is therefor not harmful for daily use. This was concluded from two separate studies by the Cosmetic Ingredient Review, one in 1984 and again in 2005:

“FDA believes that at the present time there is no reason for consumers to be concerned about the use of cosmetics containing parabens. However, the agency will continue to evaluate new data in this area. If FDA determines that a health hazard exists, the agency will advise the industry and the public, and will consider its legal options under the authority of the FD&C Act in protecting the health and welfare of consumers.”

Is it Worth Buying Paraben-Free Products?

Currently the ingredients within cosmetics and beauty products are not formally regulated by the FDA, and thus the FDA is not required to pre-approve every cosmetic product before it hits stores. While there is still no definitive proof that parabens within your beauty products are harmful, many companies, like Burt’s Bees, and the new 100 % vegan cosmetic line, Stript, do not want to take any chances!  In addition, many dermatologists find that paraben free makeup can reduce breakouts and allergic reactions.

Do You Prefer Paraben Free Products?

We want to hear your opinions!  Do you typically check the labels of your beauty products before you purchase them?  Do you think there is reason to still be skeptical about the health risks or dangers of parabens? Do you think that “paraben-free” cosmetics is just a scare tactic for companies to make money?

You’ve Heard of Ionic… But What About Haionic?

Do as the Salons Do

The latest hair dryer developments have recently been the buzz of hair salons and magazines.  The Hai Elite Turbo Haionic hairdryer uses new innovative ionic tourmaline technology that leaves your hair dry faster, healthier, and smoother than ever before!  This dryer does not mess around!

  1. It’s Fast.  This dryer seriously dries hair in half the normal time!
  2. Shhh.  It’s quiet. Despite its drying power, the dryer surprisingly makes very little noise
  3. It’s light.   At only 13oz, you don’t have to worry about your arm getting tired mid blowout!
  4. Tourmaline Technology.  Tourmaline provides a more intense negative ion.  Negative ions allow the hair to retain some moisture and as a result adds more shine and less frizz!

What the Media is Saying

audreyAnne Kim, the Editor-in-Chief of Audrey Magazine listed the dryer as one of her editor’s picks for the February 2009 issue, saying it “gets the frizzies out without damaging my ends…a solid go-to dryer for your styling needs.”

The most recent issue of American Salon Magazine says the dryer, “locks in moisture, seals in color and stabilizes the pH level of the hair.”  (All in One!)

americanCan’t Get Enough Hai?

To really get that salon finished blowout, use the ceramic coated Hai Elite 1″ Round Brush during your dry.  The ceramic barrel of the brush traps even more negative ions to add to your hair’s smoothness, and increase drying time even more!  And, check out some professional salon shampoos that are also available for at home use!
